VAT Manager, Digital and Devices, Tax (London)

Amazon TA
London
Want to get close to the business? This VAT Manager role sits at the heart of Amazon's Digital & Devices operation, advising on EMEA expansions, cross-border digital services, and new business models. Based in London, you'll work directly with product and commercial teams — translating complex VAT questions into clear, actionable guidance.

Key job responsibilities
You will join a team of ten VAT specialists covering Amazon's Digital and Devices portfolio, taking ownership of specific business lines within that portfolio. Our team supports some of Amazon's most recognised and fastest-growing businesses — including Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios, Alexa, Kindle, Audible, Amazon Music, Twitch, Devices (Ring, Eero), Appstore, Digital Software and Games, Amazon Prime, and M&A — as well as Amazon Leo, launching low earth orbit satellite broadband service for unserved and underserved communities worldwide.
In your business lines, you will be the go-to VAT advisor: partnering directly with business teams to understand their commercial objectives and translating these into clear, pragmatic tax solutions. Your work will span product and service expansions, business restructurings, ESS obligations for cross-border digital services, e-invoicing launches across EMEA markets, and the full range of operational VAT questions that arise in a fast-moving environment.
Beyond your own portfolio, you will contribute to wider VAT and indirect tax strategy, communicating effectively around what your businesses are planning and helping make sure the tax response across all disciplines is consistent and timely.

A day in the life
Your day will typically move between the technical and the commercial. You might start the morning working through the VAT treatment of a new digital service launching in a new market — reviewing place of supply rules, checking e-invoicing requirements, and turning your analysis into a clear recommendation the business can act on. By mid-morning you could be on a call with finance and legal colleagues, aligning on the indirect tax position for a content acquisition before contracts are signed.
Your stakeholders are the product, finance, legal, and operations teams behind the businesses you support. Your job is to understand what they are building, get ahead of the tax implications, and stay with them through to implementation.

About the team
The team is based in London and Luxembourg, supporting some of Amazon's most exciting and innovative business lines.
Our mission is to help Amazon's digital businesses launch, expand, and scale. That means partnering with the businesses we support, from advice through to implementation — and staying close as the business evolves.
The team operates with a high degree of trust and autonomy. You will own your portfolio, but never work in isolation — we collaborate closely across direct tax, transfer pricing, and compliance, and share knowledge openly when things get complex.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department
- Experience researching indirect tax issues including taxability of products and services.
- Experience in supporting audit defense

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and entries
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
