Trustee
We're looking for a Volunteer Trustee to join Your Place and be part of our dedicated team to help us with our mission to solve homelessness in east London, one person at a time!
About the role
As a charity dedicated to solving homelessness in East London, Your Place is focussed on offering hope, a home and a healing place to grow. This is a well-run charity with a strong executive team and Board that brings a diversity of skills and professional backgrounds. Operating in an extremely challenging environment with rough sleeping and housing issues increasing in London, Your Place needs to be consistently entrepreneurial and focused on income in order to deliver the vision. We are now seeking 2 great candidates with a track record of leadership and achievement to join our Board of Trustees – one of whom will Chair our Premises Committee. On a personal level, we are looking for one of the following professional skills:- Property compliance/building safety;
- Property Maintenance and Management;
- Social Housing Management;
- Property Development
These are volunteer roles, so most important is a values driven purpose, with a strong social ethos and an alignment with the fact that inclusion and belonging are central to everything we do at Your Place.

- Strong communicator with the gravitas to operate at this level.
- Enthusiastic approach – with a desire to make a positive contribution.
- Proven relationship building skills, with the ability to influence others.
- Collaborative, open and supportive approach.
- Open to change and encourages innovation and creativity.
- An engaging and enthusing style, with the gravitas for an ambassadorial role.
- Personal and professional credibility that will command confidence across a wide range of stakeholder interests.
- Clear interest in the role of a charity trustee/board member and a commitment to the activities and values of Your Place.
Person specification
- Ability to contribute to discussion and debate at meetings with a willingness to challenge constructively and express opinions while accepting accountability and the collective decision making of the Board.
- Ability to absorb and evaluate a wide range of complex written material, including financial/budgetary information.
- Ability to consider the wider strategic context of the organisation in discussion and decision-making.
- Ability to represent and promote the organisation and to communicate effectively.
- An awareness of the needs and aspirations of current and potential customers.
