Upper KS2 Teacher
TeacherActive, one of the UK’s largest education recruitment agencies, is proud to be supporting a highly regarded primary school based in the heart of Beckenham. This warm and nurturing school is known for its strong academic standards, supportive leadership, excellent pastoral care, and a vibrant community atmosphere that makes it an inspiring place for any Upper KS2 class teacher to work. We are looking for a committed and skilled Upper KS2 class teacher to cover a maternity post from April until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a long-term position beyond this. The school offers well-resourced classrooms, a collaborative team culture, and a curriculum that promotes high expectations, creativity, and independence — providing the ideal environment for a teacher passionate about preparing pupils for the transition into secondary school. Whether you are an experienced teacher seeking a stable maternity cover role or looking for a long-term opportunity, our specialist consultants are here to support you every step of the way through our simple and efficient online onboarding process. The school is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Upper KS2 class teacher to join their team from April on a maternity cover basis, with the possibility of continuing into a long-term role. The successful teacher will take responsibility for delivering a broad and engaging curriculum, supported by specialist staff for subjects such as Music, PE, French, Art, Drama, and Games. You will be expected to create a positive learning environment both inside the classroom and outdoors, track pupil progress carefully, and maintain high-quality records. This role involves working closely with families and contributing to the wider life of the school through clubs, assemblies, and key events. You will also take part in staff meetings, INSET days, and ongoing training. The school values safeguarding and wellbeing highly, and you will be expected to uphold these standards at all times while modelling the school’s core values in daily practice. What we’re looking for:
- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) with QTS
- Experience teaching Upper KS2, ideally with knowledge of preparing pupils for 11+ or secondary transition
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with pupils, parents, and colleagues
- A passion for delivering an engaging curriculum and supporting pupils’ personal development
- A commitment to safeguarding, high expectations, and consistent professional conduct
- Previous work within an independent school environment
- Understanding of senior school admissions and transition processes
- Experience planning educational outings or enrichment activities
- Generous benefits including fee remission options and a healthcare cash plan
- Complimentary lunch and refreshments during term time
- Salary sacrifice schemes and regular staff social events
- Annual flu vaccination
- A workplace culture that values trust, creativity, and ongoing professional growth
- Modern facilities and a welcoming, supportive staff team
