The Global Strategy, Operations & Performance (GSOP) team serves as a Center of Excellence within Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) business unit, focusing on enterprise-level strategy, performance management, and operational delivery. We're a fast-moving, high-impact team tackling the company’s most important priorities.
The Risk & Remediation program management office (PMO) is specifically focused on driving GMNS process excellence, Legal Entity Governance, 1LOD Compliance, Data Governance and managing large risk-related initiatives for GMNS.
The objective of the GMNS PMO team is to ensure the successful delivery of a Project called Guardian, to uplift the Operational Risk and Control Management strategy, within GMNS through strong program management and deep enterprise partnerships.
You will be joining a newly created team called the GMNS Guardian International PMO team that will be working on a high priority and visibility program that touches many teams within GMNS International and across American Express. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for providing program management support across deliverables and ensuring we seamlessly advance the business unit to an elevated risk management model.

We are seeking a results-oriented individual with a background in working on complex transformation initiatives - someone who is ambitious, thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. The role has a high impact and offers visibility opportunity with engagement with leaders across GMNS.
Additional responsibilities include supporting the PMO team in all of the below:
- Program Delivery Support: Track milestones, timelines, and deliverables across all workstreams, maintaining the master delivery plan including managing and documenting changes to plan and timelines.
- Governance Coordination: Organise and support governance activities, including producing meeting packs, capturing actions and decisions, and ensuring timely follow-ups.
- Reporting: Prepare regular status updates and dashboards for stakeholders, escalating risks and delays where needed.
- RAID Management: Maintain the RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) log, ensuring items are actively managed, updated, and escalated appropriately.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the day-to-day point of contact for delivery leads, risk teams, and other contributors to gather updates, share information, and resolve blockers.
- Documentation: Maintain well-organised and up to date program documentation, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for all stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience in project management/coordination through execution, with strong organisational skills and keen attention to detail
- Someone who is self-reliant, detail-oriented and a fast learner
- Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship management skills to effectively liaise with program stakeholders to drive delivery of the program
- Experience in preparing materials for senior stakeholders and committees
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly complex environment and navigating between competing priorities and whilst accelerating program knowledge
- Ability to maintain a positive, can-do attitude
- Familiarity working in a risk and control or regulatory environment is a plus
- Working hours flexibility given the international nature of the role
