Senior Cloud Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer for a public sector organisation based in London (hybrid) on an initial 6-month contract, paying up to £500 per day (Inside IR35).

This is a hybrid role with some remote working available and an expectation to attend the office in London as required.

The successful Senior Cloud Engineer will lead on designing, delivering and optimising self-service cloud infrastructure, operating systems and business applications, keeping platforms secure, high performing and sustainable. You'll ensure services remain available, tackle faults and incidents methodically, and embed security controls into every solution. You'll also mentor and lead a team of engineers, working within a multidisciplinary, Agile environment.

You will need proven experience working with the following:

Designing, delivering and optimising cloud infrastructure at scale
Managing and maintaining operating systems and business applications integrated with cloud platforms
Availability and capacity management, including forecasting, monitoring and remedial action
Embedding security controls and mitigating threats as a core part of solution design
Coding, testing and documenting scripts and programs of medium-to-high complexity
System design and integration, including coordinating build and integration testing
Risk identification, assessment and mitigation

You'll also need practical exposure to modern engineering practices, including areas such as:

Agile delivery and iterative, fast-paced ways of working
Infrastructure as Code and automation
User-centred design and collaboration with user researchers
Leading, motivating and developing technical teams

Experience operating at SFIA Level 5 (ensure/advise) would be beneficial.
