Copywriter (Freelancer Talent pool) (Hiring Immediately)

Zinc Network
London

Introducing Zinc Network (Zinc):

For over fifteen years, Zinc Network has been helping governments and businesses navigate the world's most complex challenges using communications, technology, and behavioural science. We work on some of the toughest briefs: protecting children online, strengthening democratic resilience, and championing purpose-driven technologies and organisations.

Working in partnership with a global network of media outlets, communities, and influencers, we help clients understand complex issues, design and deliver behavioural interventions, create compelling campaigns, activate trusted grassroots networks, and evaluate impact.

We're now building Kora — our AI-powered platform that systematises this expertise into scalable technology, enabling clients to work faster, more impactfully, and more cost-effectively.

We're looking for people who want to operate at the intersection of geopolitics, security, and technological disruption, and who are committed to building a safer, more secure world.

About the role:

Zinc Network is seeking freelance copywriters to join its talent pool. After approval to join the pool, you will be one of our go-to copywriters when we have relevant briefs on our exciting social-change projects around the world. As one of our copywriters, you will have the unique ability to distil intricate concepts into brilliant, straightforward prose. You may excel at writing long-form content, such as articles and scripts, or punchy short-form content, including social media copy and headlines. Your creativity and adaptability will be key in producing diverse content that engages, informs, and captivates our audiences across our global projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure the highest creative standards across all written work, delivered on time
  • Write engaging copy with personality that conveys complex information in a simple and clear manner

· Ensure all copy is accurate, fact-checked, and strategically appropriate for the needs of our clients and partners

· Reviewing your work and others to ensure it is immaculate and meets strategic objectives

  • Work closely with creative, digital, strategy and research, accounts and project management teams to ensure that deadlines and budgets are met
  • Help ensure that our clients are satisfied with the quality of our creative work, and our responsiveness to their needs
  • Participate in client meetings, communicating creative vision and proposals effectively
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality

· Take feedback well and be prepared to revise your scripts and edits to meet the needs of our clients, partners and internal stakeholders

Requirements

  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience of short-form, social copy, as well as longer-form copy
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex concepts and convey them in a clear, engaging manner
  • Strong research skills
  • A good understanding of social media platforms and their different needs
  • Experience in journalistic copy is desirable
  • Experience in scripting is a plus
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Positive and flexible ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to solve problems
  • Ability to get on well with the team
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred

Conditions of Employment:

Candidates who receive a job offer will be required to:

· Disclose any previous disciplinary action against them resulting from a substantiated safeguarding (including any breaches involving trafficking-related activities) or workplace investigation.

· Undergo background checks including employment verification, sexual offender registry (as available), identity confirmation, and anti-terrorism vetting.

Application Process:

Please include a cover letter stating how you meet each of the requirements. If you require accommodation to be made at any point throughout the recruitment process, please let us know when you are contacted.

Area of Selection:

We’re committed to hiring a diverse workforce from different professional and cultural backgrounds, and to that end, we encourage a variety of people to apply to join our company to represent the diverse range of subjects associated with our projects.
