SEN 1:1 Support Assistant | Havering
We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and dedicated SEN 1:1 Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Havering. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about making a real difference to the life of a child with additional needs.
The successful candidate will provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with special educational needs. These needs may include autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, learning difficulties, speech and language needs, or social and emotional challenges. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement personalised support strategies and help the pupil access learning throughout the school day.
Your role will involve supporting the pupil academically, socially, and emotionally. This includes adapting learning activities, encouraging engagement, supporting emotional regulation, and promoting positive behaviour. You will help the pupil develop independence, confidence, and resilience while ensuring they feel safe, supported, and included within the classroom environment.
Monitoring progress and wellbeing will be an important part of the role. You will contribute to observations, record keeping, and reviews, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and the SEN team. Consistency, patience, and empathy are essential qualities for success in this role.
This position is ideal for someone with previous SEN experience or a strong interest in special educational needs. The school values inclusion and offers training and professional development to support staff working in SEN roles.
