Marine Insurance Claims Manager
The Marine Insurance Claim Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of marine insurance claims, including cargo, hull, liability, and freight claims. The role involves investigating, negotiating, and settling claims while ensuring compliance with policy terms and relevant regulations. The manager will lead a team, liaise with underwriters, adjusters, surveyors, and legal professionals, and ensure timely and efficient claims processing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all aspects of insurance claims for clients, especially in the fields of cargo claims
- Liaise with P&I clubs, insurers, and other relevant parties to negotiate settlements and ensure timely resolution of claims.
- Conduct thorough investigations into claims, gathering evidence, assessing liability, and preparing documentation as per industry standards.
- Maintain high standards of existing relationships across the UK, Europe, MENA, Africa and Asia across the current services offered (marine, shipping and commodity insurance)
- Assist with existing and new insurance contracts actively participating in the discussions and negotiations
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in marine insurance and claims handling.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor's, plus a recognized degree or certification in maritime law, insurance, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in marine insurance claims handling, including managerial responsibilities in the international marine insurance market
- Proven ability to negotiate effectively and build strong relationships with P&I clubs, insurers, and clients.
- Sound understanding of a commodity trading house or freight and shipping businesses.
