Design Engineer – Civil

Location: London (Hybrid)

Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 per annum + benefits

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Company

Our client is transforming the way the world uses data centres – delivering flexible, optimised colocation services with outstanding customer support, powered by sustainable energy. Following a recent acquisition, the business is undergoing significant growth with major investment into new data centre capacity across Europe.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic, innovative, and growth-oriented organisation where you’ll play a key role in shaping the next generation of sustainable data centre campuses.

The Role

We are seeking an ambitious Civil Design Engineer to join the Design & Product Development team in London. Reporting to the Head of Design & Product Development, you will be responsible for the development of civil and infrastructure design for new data centre campuses, supporting projects from early feasibility through to delivery and operational handover.

This is a highly collaborative role, working with architects, utility providers, contractors, and internal stakeholders across multiple international sites (UK, Finland, Iceland). It will suit an engineer with experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, critical environments, or data centres, who enjoys seeing their designs realised in construction.

Key Responsibilities

Lead civil infrastructure design from strategic brief to operational handover.

Manage vendor and consultant relationships, ensuring technical feasibility, due diligence, and compliance during early project stages.

Conduct market research into emerging data centre and energy generation technologies, producing technical whitepapers to inform the product roadmap.

Take ownership of key product initiatives from concept through to delivery.

Collaborate with global operations and development teams across multiple locations.

Key Requirements

Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design or delivery of infrastructure projects.

Hands-on experience with Revit and Civil 3D.

Chartered or working towards professional accreditation.

Proven track record of leading initiatives or projects to successful completion.

Strong interest in the built environment, technology, and infrastructure.

Willingness to travel internationally (UK, Finland, Iceland) as required.

What’s on Offer

Salary of £65,000 – £75,000, plus benefits.

Opportunity to join a fast-growing, private equity-backed business at a pivotal stage of expansion.

Dynamic, inclusive, and innovative work culture.

Exposure to cutting-edge sustainable data centre and infrastructure projects.

A collaborative international team environment with real scope for professional growth
