Compliance Surveillance Calibration Specialist(Contract)

Overview
We are partnering witha leading global financial institution to hire a SurveillanceCalibration Specialist to join their Compliance function. This is ahighly technical role focused on optimising trade surveillance models,improving alert quality, and enhancing detection frameworks through data-ledcalibration and validation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform calibration and re-calibration of trade surveillance scenarios, adjusting thresholds and parameters to improve alert effectiveness
  • Conduct validation and effectiveness reviews of surveillance models, ensuring adequate regulatory and risk coverage
  • Analyse alert outputs to identify opportunities for false positive reduction and optimisation
  • Apply quantitative and statistical techniques to enhance surveillance performance
  • Partner with stakeholders across Compliance, Surveillance, and Technology to implement improvements
  • Develop and maintain metrics, dashboards and reporting to track model performance and risk outcomes
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of surveillance calibration and validation frameworks

  • Required Experience
  • Hands-on experience with trade surveillance systems (e.g. SMARTS or equivalent)
  • Strong background in surveillance calibration, optimisation, or model validation
  • Demonstrated experience in:
  • Adjusting thresholds and surveillance parameters
  • Performing backtesting / scenario testing
  • Reducing false positives and improving alert quality
  • Ability to clearly articulate quantitative outcomes (e.g. improvements in efficiency or detection rates)
  • Experience within financial services (investment banking or similar institutional environments)

  • Preferred Background
  • Experience within tier-1 investment banks or large global financial institutions
  • Exposure to market abuse surveillance frameworks
  • Strong understanding of trade lifecycle and regulatory expectations
  • Experience working in global or cross-regional teams

  • Ability to work with large datasets and complex surveillance outputs
  • Strong stakeholder engagement across technical and non-technical teams
