The role
We are looking for a Head of Product Design to lead and evolve our Design function.
This is a leadership role focused on building a high-performing team, raising design quality, and embedding a culture where decisions are informed by customer research, behavioural data, and measurable outcomes.
You will lead a team of designers working across product and marketing, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Data, and Leadership to ensure Design is a trusted strategic function across the business.
A key part of the role is helping InvestEngine become a more data-driven design organisation. We are looking for someone who has successfully built these practices before and can bring proven approaches to integrating research, analytics, experimentation, and AI into everyday design work.
Design is already a strength at InvestEngine. The opportunity is not to fix a broken function, but to help evolve a strong team into a world-class design organisation that combines exceptional craft with evidence-based decision making and AI-enabled ways of working.
While a strong design background is essential, this is not primarily a hands-on individual contributor role. Your impact will come through leadership, coaching, quality governance, and creating an environment where designers can do their best work.
What you'll be doing
Leading and developing the Design team across product and marketing, setting clear expectations, providing coaching, and supporting career growth.
Hiring exceptional design talent and helping shape the future structure of the Design function.
Embedding a data-driven approach to design by integrating research, usability testing, customer insights, and product analytics into decision-making.
Driving the adoption of AI tools and workflows that improve the quality, speed, and scalability of design work.
Raising the quality and consistency of customer experiences through strong design leadership, design reviews, shared standards, and design system adoption.
Improving the effectiveness of the Design function through clear prioritisation, scalable processes, predictable delivery, and strong cross-functional collaboration.
Building strong partnerships with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Data, and Leadership teams to ensure design contributes meaningfully to customer and business outcomes.
Helping establish Design as a measurable, trusted, and strategically influential function within InvestEngine.
What we're looking for
Significant experience leading and scaling product design teams in high-growth technology businesses.
A track record of building data-informed design practices and using research, analytics, and experimentation to improve customer and business outcomes.
Demonstrated experience introducing AI-enabled workflows that improve team effectiveness and delivery.
Strong people leadership skills, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and team development.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of an organisation.
Strong design judgement and the ability to elevate quality through leadership, coaching, and systems rather than individual contribution.
Experience driving design system adoption and improving the operational effectiveness of design teams.
Strong written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and articulate design decisions clearly.
Experience in fintech, financial services, or another regulated environment is highly desirable.
A structured, pragmatic approach with a focus on clarity, execution, and measurable impact.
Nice to have
Experience leading both product and marketing design teams.
Experience building or scaling design functions through periods of rapid growth.
Experience establishing UX measurement frameworks or customer experience dashboards.
Experience working with distributed or multinational teams.
A strong understanding of investing, wealth management, or consumer financial products.
