Job description

Why Software Engineering in Tax?

Technology is transforming the way tax is managed. Businesses are working with larger volumes of data, responding to changing regulations and looking for smarter ways to solve complex challenges. That’s why technology has become an increasingly important part of the tax world.

In our Tax Technology & Innovation team, we build the products and platforms that help organisations manage tax more efficiently and make better decisions. From developing new digital tools to improving existing technology, our work helps clients simplify processes, reduce manual effort and access the insights they need.

As a Software Engineering in Tax graduate, you’ll help create technology that solves real problems for businesses. Working at the intersection of software engineering, data and tax, you’ll contribute to products that are used by organisations across the UK and around the world.

Life as a Software Engineering in Tax graduate

As part of our Tax Technology & Innovation team, you’ll work with software engineers, analysts, designers and product specialists to develop and improve digital products that help organisations manage tax more effectively.

You don’t need to be a technical expert before you join. We’re looking for people who are curious, adaptable and excited by solving problems. What matters most is your willingness to learn, ask questions and explore new ideas.

You could be helping to build new features for a cloud-based application, testing software before release, automating manual processes or using AI-powered tools to improve the way technology is developed. As you gain experience, you’ll learn how ideas move from concept to finished product and see first-hand how technology can make work simpler, faster and more effective.

Throughout the programme, you’ll gain exposure to the full software engineering lifecycle. That means learning how products are shaped and designed around user needs, how software is built and tested, and how new features are deployed and improved over time. Working in collaborative teams, you’ll build practical experience of modern engineering approaches while developing your coding, problem-solving and technical design skills.

Your future

Throughout the programme, you’ll develop valuable technical skills through technology-focused training, structured learning and hands-on project work. You’ll be supported by a network of peers, mentors and leaders who are invested in helping you learn and grow.

Over time, you’ll build the knowledge and confidence to take on increasingly complex engineering challenges. As your skills develop, you’ll have the opportunity to explore areas that match your interests, whether that’s software engineering, data, cloud technologies, automation or product development. Whatever path you take, you’ll have a strong foundation for a varied and rewarding long-term career in technology.
