Embroidery Design Developer
This is a freelance studio-based role, supporting the design and development team functions with regard to embroidery design and development. The successful applicant will support and drive margin while delivering quality and aesthetic brand requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Embroidery development across 4 main seasonal collections, and capsules and special projects requiring embroidery.
- Creation and management of seasonal critical path, driving this forward at all stages of the design / development process.
- Supporting the Embroidery Designer during the design process with technical knowledge, choosing suppliers, management of work priority based on critical path and ensuring pricing and commercial criteria are being met.
- Management of seasonal budget Working on pre costings and final costings for all embroideries together with PD manager and Merchandiser manager throughout the season, to ensure target prices and margins are being met.
- Management of all embroidery developments with external suppliers, building strong relationships with each to ensure realisation of styles are completed to required brief and within costing targets
- Handling various aspects of all embroidery launches, including, preparing and sending base fabrics, writing and sending instructions, sending final artwork files and target prices and managing deadlines with the suppliers.
- Working with external suppliers to create placed artworks and adjust component usage and techniques to ensure that realised product is viable for production
- Monitor all stages of WIP, sending comments and approvals at the required times and checking all completed panels once received
- Thorough handover of panels to RTW Product Developer and Technical team for SMS creation
- Working together with Embroidery Designer to make sure all embroidery artworks are completed on time.
- Supplier management, ensuring clarity of information for both sampling and production.
- Management of production handover / sealing dates, ensuring product is resolved sufficiently in order for production to commence
- Responsible for completion of Production artworks where necessary
- Checking and approving Invoices
- Manage all shipments to and from external suppliers
- Management and booking of external freelancers
- Record keeping of all seasonal documentation.
- Participation in pre-shoot and pre-show activities
- Travelling to external suppliers if required
Requirements:
- Degree level or similar
- At least 3 years of experience in luxury embroidery development
- A strong understanding of technical aspects of embroidery, garment construction and raw materials.
- Experience in embroidery costing and budget management.
- Organised, efficient and critical path focused with strong negotiation skills
- A strong understanding of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Good knowledge in Excel
- Initiative and drive
