Product Owner – Customer Experience
About the role
We're looking for an experienced Product Owner to help shape and deliver digital products that improve experiences for customers and colleagues across Royal Mail.
Working within a cross-functional product team, you'll play a key role in defining priorities, translating business needs into actionable requirements and ensuring valuable products are delivered at pace. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business, alongside designers, engineers, architects and delivery teams, to solve real customer problems and deliver measurable outcomes.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong product thinking with a customer-first mindset and enjoys turning ideas into successful products and services.
What you'll be doing
- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring priorities align to customer needs, business goals and strategic objectives.
- Work closely with customers, users and stakeholders to identify opportunities, understand pain points and validate solutions.
- Translate product goals and business requirements into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Prioritise work based on customer value, business impact, risk and delivery considerations.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers and architects throughout the product lifecycle.
- Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning and product reviews to ensure teams remain focused on delivering value.
- Provide guidance and decision-making support to the delivery team throughout development.
- Review and accept completed work, ensuring it meets agreed business requirements and quality standards.
- Use customer feedback, analytics and performance data to drive continuous improvement.
- Contribute to product strategy, roadmap planning and long-term product development initiatives.
About you
You'll be passionate about creating products that solve real customer problems and deliver measurable business value.
You'll be comfortable working in a fast-paced agile environment and have the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels while maintaining a clear focus on customer outcomes.
What we're looking for
Essential
- Experience working as a Product Owner, Product Manager or similar product delivery role.
- Strong experience managing product backlogs and translating requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Proven experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of customer-centred product development and user-focused design principles.
- Experience balancing competing priorities and making informed trade-off decisions.
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders and third-party suppliers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience using Agile delivery tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Desirable
- SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager certification or similar Agile qualifications.
- Experience working within large-scale digital transformation programmes.
- Knowledge of customer journey mapping, Lean UX and hypothesis-driven product development.
