Location:Chelmsford (Site-Based with Hybrid Flexibility)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic team on a major infrastructure project in Chelmsford. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering a high-value 400kV substation project under NEC4 Option C.
This is a permanent staff position offering a great salary and benefits package, along with the chance to work on a flagship project within the power sector.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management
Monitor and control project costs to ensure delivery within budget
Prepare, analyse, and update cost forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities
Manage and validate subcontractor and supplier payments
Contract Administration
Administer NEC4 Option C contracts in line with contractual obligations
Manage Compensation Events (CEs), ensuring timely submission and agreement
Maintain accurate and comprehensive project records in collaboration with the Project Manager
Risk & Value Management
Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks
Support value engineering initiatives to optimise cost efficiency and performance
Reporting
Produce regular financial reports, including cost-value reconciliations (CVRs) and forecasts
Present financial performance and risk updates to stakeholders
Collaboration
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
Support procurement activities, including subcontractor evaluation and appointment
Skills & Experience
Essential
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts, particularly Option C
Excellent financial and analytical skills
Strong communication and negotiation abilities
Proficiency in tools such as CEMAR, MS Excel, or similar
Desirable
Experience in power infrastructure or substation projects
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field
