Assistant Cook

Our client, an educational establishment, located in Bexleyheath, are seeking a temporary experienced Assistant Cook to cover sickness leave for six weeks.

They are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and highly-motivated Assistant Cook to join their busy, established school catering team. You will assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of nutritious, high-quality meals for their students and staff, while ensuring excellent standards of food hygiene and cleanliness are maintained across the kitchen and dining areas.

Hours 8.00 am – 2.00 pm – Monday to Friday

Covers – 340 per day

Food Preparation & Cooking: Assist the second cook in preparing and cooking fresh, healthy meals in line with school nutritional guidelines and menus.

Service & Dining: Support the team during meal service, ensuring portion control, attractive presentation, and a welcoming environment for pupils.

Stock & Compliance: Assist with deliveries, stock rotation, and adhering strictly to Health, Safety, and Food Hygiene regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a school kitchen.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or Level 2 Award in Food Safety
• An understanding of special dietary requirements and food allergies
• A positive, caring attitude and the ability to work comfortably alongside children and staff.
