Key Responsibilities
As a Primary Teacher at this Canary Wharf / Isle of Dogs school, your responsibilities will include:
Planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality lessons across the curriculum in line with the National Curriculum
Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports learning for all pupils
Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners, including SEN, EAL, and high-achieving pupils
Using assessment to monitor progress, inform planning, and ensure all pupils make expected or accelerated progress
Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, effort, and achievement, supporting pupils to develop independence and resilience
Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and personal development
Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SEN staff, and senior leadership to provide consistent support and targeted interventions
Participating in pupil progress meetings and contributing to whole-school planning and initiatives
Communicating effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress, achievements, and any concerns
Keeping accurate records of pupil performance, behaviour, and progress
Participating actively in staff meetings, training, and other professional development opportunities
Upholding safeguarding, child protection, and school policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for a Primary Teacher who demonstrates:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching in KS1 or KS2 (ECTs welcome)
Strong classroom management skills and a positive, consistent approach to behaviour
Commitment to inclusive education , supporting pupils from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs
Ability to adapt lessons to meet individual learning styles and abilities
Excellent organisational, planning, and time-management skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with pupils, parents, and colleagues
Reflective, proactive, and committed to continuous professional development
Passionate about making a meaningful difference to children’s lives
Teachers with experience supporting SEN, EAL, or additional learning needs are particularly welcomed, though this is not essential.
