Live-out Cook / Laundress
Our client is seeking an experienced, highly organised, and proactive Cook / Laundress to join a private family residence in Chelsea. This long-term role is ideal for a professional who takes pride in family-style cooking, exceptional garment care, and maintaining the smooth operation of a busy household.
This position is primarily kitchen-focused, with laundry and wardrobe care forming the secondary focus. You will work alongside the full-time housekeeper and household team to ensure the property runs efficiently, with a particular focus on food planning, preparation, and service.
Duties will include:
Kitchen & Food Service
- Planning and preparing daily meals, primarily dinner and light lunches, in line with the family’s preferences and dietary requirements
- Preparing meals for up to 8 people when children are in residence (including 2 nannies), and adjusting menu planning when children are away
- Managing kitchen inventory, provisioning, and stock rotation, ensuring freshness and hygiene standards
- Maintaining exceptional cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen at all times
- Assisting with table setting, meal service, and clearing as required
- Cleaning and maintaining all kitchen equipment and appliances
- Monitoring food quality, freshness, and expiry dates
- Managing food waste in line with household procedures
- Providing professional, family-style service when required
Laundry & Wardrobe Care
- Maintaining a daily laundry service, focusing on fine and delicate garments
- Assisting with household laundry as required, co-ordinating with the housekeeper and nannies who handle children’s laundry
- Inspecting garments and managing dry cleaning services when necessary
- Packing and unpacking clothing for travel, and maintaining wardrobes to a high standard
Household Support
- Assisting with general housekeeping tasks when required, particularly when supporting the housekeeper
- Working collaboratively with the household team
- Maintaining administrative records related to kitchen and household operations when required
Candidate requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in private household cooking and laundry, preferably with HNW/UHNW families
- Proven experience with family-style cooking, menu planning, and food preparation for multiple adults and children
- Strong knowledge of garment care, laundry techniques, and fabric handling
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, particularly regarding food hygiene, stock rotation, and household routines
- Confident multitasker able to prioritise a busy and dynamic schedule
- Professional, discreet, and able to work collaboratively within a team
- Administrative skills are a plus
