Claims Adjuster - Financial Lines in London Area
Job description
You will be responsible for managing and resolving a portfolio of complex professional indemnity and directors & officers liability claims. This role involves investigating coverage, evaluating liability and damages, negotiating settlements, and ensuring fair, timely, and efficient resolution of claims in accordance with policy terms and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Claims Management: Handle a caseload of professional indemnity and D&O claims from first notice of loss through resolution, ensuring timely and accurate file handling.
- Coverage Analysis: Review and interpret insurance policies, endorsements, and applicable laws to determine coverage and identify potential exposures.
- Investigation: Conduct detailed investigations by gathering relevant documentation, interviewing insureds, brokers, and counsel, and analyzing claim facts to assess liability and damages.
- Negotiation & Settlement: Evaluate claim value, formulate resolution strategies, and negotiate settlements within assigned authority levels or make recommendations for escalated approvals.
- Litigation Oversight: Manage and collaborate with defense counsel on litigated matters, providing direction and monitoring legal strategy, budgets, and outcomes.
- Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication with insureds, brokers, attorneys, and internal stakeholders to provide updates and ensure transparency throughout the claims process.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to internal guidelines, regulatory requirements, and best practices; maintain accurate and thorough claim documentation.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance claims handling efficiency, contribute to process improvements, and stay current with market and legal developments in the PI and D&O sectors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in law, business, insurance, or a related field.
- Several years of experience handling professional indemnity and/or D&O liability claims.
- Strong understanding of insurance policy interpretation, legal principles, and claims procedures.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle complex and sensitive situations effectively.
- Proficiency with claims management systems and related software.
