About the Role

A vibrant and supportive secondary school located in West London is seeking a confident, adaptable, and energetic Cover Supervisor to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cover supervisor, a youth worker, or a high-achieving graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience ahead of pursuing a career in teaching (PGCE / School Direct).

As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee pre-set lessons during teacher absences, ensuring students stay on task, engaged, and working in a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise classes across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 during planned or emergency teacher absences.

• Deliver pre-prepared work and learning materials left by subject teachers.

• Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment and manage student behavior in line with school policies.

• Collect completed work at the end of each lesson and pass relevant feedback to department heads.

• Support pupils with questions and encourage positive engagement in learning.

• Perform registration and administrative duties as required.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience: Prior experience working with young people aged 11–16 (e.g., Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, or Tutor).

• Skills: Strong classroom presence, excellent communication, and confident behavior management skills.

• Education: A university degree is advantageous, though relevant experience is equally valued.

• Safeguarding: Must hold a valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to process a new one through Wayman Education.
