SEND Teaching Assistant
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Romford is looking to appoint a committed and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated support team from September 2026 .
About the role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional learning needs. You may work on a 1:1 basis , support small intervention groups, or assist within the classroom to help pupils access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning goals.
The successful candidate will be patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping children build confidence and succeed both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities throughout the school day
- Deliver tailored 1:1 support and small-group interventions
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo, and external professionals
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to learning records where appropriate
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Requirements
To be considered for the role of SEND Teaching Assistant you will:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND is essential
- Experience working within a UK primary school is highly desirable
- Understanding of a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Calm, caring, and resilient approach
- A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
