Atom Learning
London

We’re Atom Learning and our mission is to help every child reach their potential. We use machine learning and a visually engaging tech platform to bring a fun, high-quality and personalised learning experience into every child’s home.

We combine exceptional teacher-made content with cutting-edge technology to provide fantastic affordable education to all learners globally, regardless of background.

We’re one of Europe’s fastest-growing EdTech companies. Since 2018 we’ve grown from a startup of four friends to almost 110 people. Our brilliant colleagues include specialists across education, engineering, product, learning design and marketing.

We’re remote-first! While our main office is in London, our team is composed of over 110 people (and counting) working from 10 countries.

The role

We’re looking for a Junior Learning Designer to join our Education department as part of our Maths and Science team.

As a Junior Learning Designer, you’ll craft content that helps students build confidence with maths, science and problem-solving. The focus will be on creating engaging and challenging resources for GCSE learners, focusing on Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology . It’s an opportunity to make maths feel accessible and make scientific ideas stick.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with a team of educators to create high-quality, curriculum-aligned content for GCSE subjects aimed at a high tier.
  • Design learning and assessment materials that help students master key skills and prepare confidently for exams.
  • Review and edit your team’s content to ensure accuracy, clarity and consistency with our content guidelines.
  • Use a range of authoring tools to build interactive and personalised online learning experiences.

Who you are

  • Strong understanding of Maths/Science up to A-Level. Confident writing content across maths, physics, chemistry and biology.
  • Curious about how mathematics, statistics, design, technology and scientific enquiry feature in our everyday lives and can become attractive and relatable ideas for teenagers.
  • Creative and precise, with the ability to write clear, engaging explanations and questions for secondary students.
  • Collaborative and open to feedback, with a thoughtful and constructive approach to teamwork.
  • Great at explaining tricky ideas in simple terms, and passionate about making maths, science and technology feel achievable for all learners.
  • Always keen to learn and improve, with a growth mindset and an enthusiasm for educational impact.

Experience that will set you apart

  • Experience tutoring, mentoring or developing Maths/Science content for learners aged 11–16.
  • A passion for Maths/Science communication—whether through puzzle design, enrichment activities, media and outreach or clear, student-friendly writing.
  • Experience using technology in education, interrogating the tools and using them critically to meet learners where they are (i.e.: authoring tools, LLMs, coding and automation, etc.)
  • Familiarity with GCSE exam boards and an understanding of what helps students succeed in assessments.

Benefits

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays;
  • 3 days winter leave;
  • Work anywhere in the UK or within GMT +/-2 hours time zone; we're a remote-first company, with the option to use our Holborn office;
  • Annual L&D budget;
  • Private medical with Vitality Health;
  • Access to wellbeing platform;
  • Enhanced family leave;
  • Monthly remote and in-person events in London;
  • High degree of autonomy and exposure to the running of all business areas of a successful startup;
  • Brilliant colleagues and the opportunity to become an integral member of a fast-growing tech company.

Diversity & Inclusion at Atom Learning

At Atom Learning, diversity, equity and inclusion are essential parts of our mission. We strive to build an inclusive culture that encourages and supports voices from a diverse range of backgrounds. We know it fuels our creativity and brings us closer towards democratising education for children of all backgrounds.

To achieve this, we commit to fostering an environment where everyone is valued and supported for who they are and in which individual differences and the contributions of all our staff are recognised and protected.
