Catering and Cleaning Supervisor - The British Home, London
Salary: £15 per hour Shift pattern: 40 hours per week, 5 days over 7About the Role
White Oaks, part of Compass Group, is looking for a proactive and dedicated Housekeeping & Catering Supervisor to lead our friendly and professional team. In this role, you’ll ensure that our residents enjoy a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, and that our catering service runs smoothly every day. This is a hands-on leadership position where your attention to detail, organisational skills, and passion for quality service will make a real difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, support, and train the housekeeping and catering team to deliver high-quality services.
- Ensure all staff arrive on time, maintain professional appearance, and follow uniform and grooming standards.
- Inspect, monitor, and record housekeeping and catering standards, taking action as needed to maintain Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, and company standards.
- Manage stock, ensuring items are controlled and used efficiently in line with budget targets.
- Plan and produce staff rotas, monitoring attendance via OurTime, to ensure effective coverage.
- Follow sickness and absence procedures and maintain accurate records.
- Build and maintain a motivated, customer-focused team that handles feedback and complaints professionally.
- Maintain hygiene records, monitor temperatures, and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Deliver and record staff training, including Induction, Fire Safety, Health & Safety, Hygiene, and Skills development.
- Promote strong communication and positive relationships across the team, other departments, residents, and visitors.
- Manage security processes and provide operational reports as required.
- Carry out any reasonable duties requested by the Service Manager.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous supervisory experience in housekeeping, catering, or hospitality, ideally in a care setting.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Understands and complies with Health & Safety, COSHH, and Food Hygiene standards.
- Is proactive, reliable, and passionate about maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service.
- Leads by example and motivates their team to deliver excellent service.
