The Role
As a Graduate Pastoral Teaching Assistant, you will work as part of the pastoral support team to help students overcome barriers to learning.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing emotional support and mentoring to students experiencing difficulties
- Monitoring attendance, punctuality, and engagement, and intervening where needed
- Supporting behaviour management strategies and restorative practices
- Building positive relationships with parents/carers and external agencies
- Promoting positive wellbeing and resilience through small group workshops and 1:1 support
- Assisting the safeguarding team in identifying and responding to concerns
- Working closely with the SENCo, Heads of Year and Designated Safeguarding Lead
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a graduate who is:
- Empathetic, patient, and emotionally intelligent
- Interested in adolescent mental health, behaviour, and social development
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Able to build trust and rapport with young people
- Proactive, adaptable, and keen to learn from experienced staff
Degrees in Psychology, Sociology, Education, Social Sciences or related fields are especially welcomed, though all graduates with a genuine passion for supporting young people will be considered.
