Housekeeper

Monday–Friday, 11am–4pm | 25 hours per week | £18 per hour gross

We are a warm, busy family of five in the High Wycombe area, with three young children who are all at school and two friendly dogs. Both of us run growing businesses and we’re looking for a trusted right hand at home — someone who can keep the house clean, organised and running smoothly during the week.

This is primarily a housekeeping role, rather than a traditional nanny position. During term time, all three children are at school for the majority of your working hours, so your main responsibility will be looking after our home.

We will not have a separate cleaner working alongside you, so applicants must be genuinely happy taking responsibility for the cleaning and upkeep of a family home. We’re not looking for a nanny who does a little housekeeping — we’re looking for a great housekeeper who is also comfortable helping with our children when needed.

Looking after our home

Your responsibilities will include:

Thorough cleaning of the home, including bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms and living areas
Hoovering, mopping, dusting and general cleaning
Changing beds and managing bed linen
Family laundry — washing, drying and folding (no ironing)
Keeping bedrooms and household areas tidy and organised
General household tidying and upkeep
Keeping on top of household supplies
Occasional errands
Helping with our two dogs day to day
Family meal preparation
We’re looking for someone who naturally notices what needs doing and takes pride in keeping a home beautifully clean, organised and under control.

With the children

During term time, childcare is a much smaller part of the role and will mainly involve school pick-ups approximately twice a week, occasional help with after-school arrangements and preparing meals/snacks when needed.

There will be more hands-on involvement with the children during school holidays, so you must be warm, confident and comfortable caring for three young children when required.

About you

We’re looking for someone warm, reliable, practical and proactive who doesn’t need to be given a list of every little job. You don’t need to come from a traditional nanny background — housekeeping or private household experience is particularly valuable to us.

You will need:

Right to work in the UK
Full UK driving licence and your own car
Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one (we’ll cover the cost)
To be comfortable around two dogs
References from previous families or employers
To be physically able and genuinely happy to take on the cleaning side of the role
Paediatric first aid and confidence with family cooking are lovely to have but not essential.

What we offer

£18 per hour gross, paid properly through payroll, 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday, workplace pension, paid DBS, mileage reimbursement, a paid trial day, small Christmas bonus, your birthday off and a proper written contract from day one.
