Senior Legal Counsel –Technology, AI & Procurement
At dunnhumby , we help brands and retailers use data science to put customers first. As we continue to innovate in AI and technology, we’re looking for a commercially astute Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in London.
This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape and deliver our legal strategy covering dunnhumby’s use of tech, AI, and general third party services while mentoring and managing a talented legal professional.
What You’ll Do
- Lead all legal support for technology, AI and procurement-related matters across dunnhumby.
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise colleagues on a wide range of technology and general commercial contracts, including SaaS, software licensing, data processing, reseller / introducer and AI-related agreements.
- Advise stakeholders on legal risks and regulatory developments in AI, data protection, and emerging technologies in close collaboration with our Privacy, Data and Security colleagues.
- Lead our day-to-day relationship with our Procurement team and work closely with a huge range of other colleagues, including Tech, Data Science, Privacy, Corp Dev and Risk and Compliance, to C-suite level.
- Manage and develop one direct report, fostering their growth and legal excellence.
- Help set our legal vision for your area and continuously improvement our legal policies, processes, standards and guidance.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified solicitor with several years post-qualification experience.
- Strong background in commercial, IP, data and privacy law with a focus on technology, AI, outsourcing and wider procurement. Digital media and open source experience would be an advantage.
- Strong experience working in-house in a technology-heavy context . Global or international experience would be an advantage.
- Excellent training and ideally strong foundational skills from working in a technology or commercial team at a top law firm.
- Experience in project management, and in particular the design, implementation and management of complex cross-functional processes would be an advantage
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proven ability to drive complex legal matters, manage competing priorities, make the complex simple, and achieve quick, risk-aware outcomes.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for innovation, including the use of technology in legal work.
