The Role at a Glance
Launch your tech career with a Software Engineering 12 Month Placement at one of the world’s leading consulting and technology firms. You’ll help build and deliver smart solutions – from custom apps to full-scale platforms. You’ll get hands-on with the latest tools, help clients bring their ideas to life, and explore exciting new technologies. As part of the team, you’ll use your coding skills to design and develop applications and play a key role in identifying and fixing security risks—keeping systems safe from cyber threats.
Life as a Software Engineering Intern
As a Software Engineering Intern, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation—using both current and emerging technologies to help shape what’s next. You’ll design and deliver custom-built solutions and play a hands-on role in every phase of development: from concept and coding to testing and deployment.
You won’t be limited to one path. You’ll explore a wide range of roles across applications, cloud, infrastructure, data, DevOps, tech architecture, quality assurance, and software engineering. Each project brings something new—different industries, different challenges, and different technologies.You’ll rotate through projects of varying lengths and scope, gaining exposure to diverse sectors and real-world problems. No matter the task, you’ll be applying your software engineering and computing skills to build innovative, impactful solutions.

- You will start your journey with some core training, teaching you all the key skills you’ll need to be a successful analyst at Accenture
- You will undergo some programme specific training to prepare you for your first client role. This can include delivery lifecycle, specific technologies and platforms and broader technology implementation approaches and methodologies.
- You will get the opportunity to gain industry recognised accreditations such as Cloud and Technology Platform certifications.
You’ll get access to:
- Core Analyst Training: Our core learning programme designed to help new joiners build confidence and skills across areas from delivery best practice, how to work with clients, and programme specific skills.

- Technology Exposure: Depending on your specific project, you’ll get exposure to a wide range of different technologies and systems and receive training to understand how to use as well as help implement them.
What you’ll need
To join our Software Engineering industrial placement scheme, you’ll need to be studying at a UK university on a Bachelor’s degree or Integrated Masters that includes a credit-bearing placement year. That means you’re currently in the penultimate year of your course, working towards a degree in Computer Science, IT, or a tech-related subject—we also welcome students from Maths, Science, or Engineering backgrounds. You should also be confident coding in at least one major programming language and excited to expand your skills even further.Our placement is designed for innovators, problem-solvers, and future tech leaders.Interns who thrive on this programme have:

Your Development Path
Once you’ve completed your initial training, you’ll be ready to take on your first role. Project placements vary based on business needs, and we encourage interns to explore a wide range of opportunities to discover what excites them most. For this programme roles may typically include:
- Application Developer
- Full stack Engineer
- Front End Engineer
- Technology Architect
Throughout your placement, you’ll be supported with ongoing training, coaching, and guidance to help you grow your skills and shape your career. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a mix of projects—each offering a chance to apply your university learning, explore different areas of tech, and discover where your strengths and passions lie. By the end of the scheme, you’ll walk away with valuable experience, in-demand skills—and hopefully, an offer to join us when you graduate.

Mahezan
completed his placement in 2023, received an offer, and rejoined our Software Engineering graduate programme in January 2025. He now plays a key role in modernising public sector services by defining technical requirements, coordinating feature delivery, and helping teams achieve impactful outcomes.

Where you’ll work:
At Accenture, we value collaboration and connection.You’ll be expected to work from your assigned UK office at least three days per week, so you must live within commuting distance. Depending on project needs, you may also spend time at client sites across the UK—sometimes more than three days a week.Expect a dynamic, hands-on environment where in-person teamwork helps you grow, build relationships, and make a meaningful impact.

The start date for the programme is September 2026. Places are offered on a first come first served basis, we encourage you to apply early. Deadline for applications is 30th November 2025, however, we reserve the right to close earlier depending on demand.
