Art Technician Role in a Secondary School

A well-established secondary school in Kingston is seeking to appoint an Art Technician to join its Creative Arts department. This is a full-time role within a supportive and creative school environment that values practical artistic work, organisation, and high-quality teaching support.

The Art department plays a key role in supporting teaching and learning across a range of creative disciplines, ensuring practical lessons, studios, and resources are well prepared and safely maintained.

About the Role

You will support the Art department by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring studio spaces are fully set up for practical lessons.

The role involves working closely with teaching staff to support creative projects, exhibitions, coursework preparation, and student practical work across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5.

You will also assist with stock control, display preparation, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organised creative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare art materials and equipment for practical lessons

  • Set up and clear down art studios and classrooms

  • Maintain tools, materials, and specialist equipment

  • Support teachers during practical lessons where required

  • Assist with displays, exhibitions, and student artwork presentation

  • Manage stock control and order resources when necessary

  • Ensure safe use of equipment and compliance with health and safety

  • Support the smooth running of the Art department

Desirable

  • Experience as an Art Technician in a school or college

  • Knowledge of art materials, tools, or studio equipment

  • First aid or health and safety awareness
