Art Department:
The Art Department is a vibrant, inspiring and well-resourced creative space where students are supported to produce high-quality work across a wide range of media. The department includes specialist studios, drying racks, printing equipment, ceramics resources, digital design tools and a well-organised materials store.
The school is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Art Technician to support the Art Department across KS3, KS4 and KS5. The role is central to the smooth running of the department, ensuring lessons are prepared, materials are organised and students can access the resources they need to work safely and creatively.
You will support teachers by preparing materials for lessons, maintaining equipment, organising displays and exhibitions, and ensuring that studio spaces are clean, safe and ready for use. You may also support students directly during practical sessions, particularly when working with specialist equipment such as cutting tools, printing resources, clay, glazing or mixed media.
The Art Technician will also assist with stock control, ordering supplies, preparing portfolios for moderation, and supporting the organisation of GCSE and A Level coursework where appropriate. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a creative background who enjoys supporting young people and contributing to a thriving arts environment.
Requirements
• Experience working in an art, design or creative setting (school experience desirable)
• Strong understanding of practical art materials and safe working practices
• Ability to prepare and organise materials for lessons and coursework projects
• Confidence maintaining equipment and supporting basic studio processes
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and support students appropriately
• A positive, proactive approach and willingness to support departmental events and exhibitions
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and supporting student achievement
