An international financial services organisation is seeking a Sanctions Lawyer to join its legal team at Vice President level.

This is a broad advisory role with exposure to complex, often time–sensitive questions across a global business. You will work closely with senior Legal, Compliance, Risk and business stakeholders, helping them understand sanctions requirements, assess legal risk, and make well–informed decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on the application of UK, EU, US and other relevant sanctions regimes to business activities and transactions.
• Provide practical legal guidance on sanctions issues arising from new initiatives, existing relationships and day–to–day operations.
• Work with stakeholders to identify legal risks, evaluate options and support decisions on complex or sensitive matters.
• Contribute to the development and review of sanctions policies, governance arrangements and controls.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments, assess their impact and communicate clear guidance to the business.
• Partner with Compliance and Risk colleagues on matters requiring coordinated sanctions advice.

About you

You will be a qualified lawyer with significant sanctions advisory experience gained in private practice or an in–house financial services team.

You will have strong technical knowledge of sanctions regimes and the judgement to apply it in a commercial setting. You should be comfortable explaining complex issues clearly, working with senior stakeholders across the business.
