Are you a passionate and talented Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Music, ready to launch your career in a supportive and creatively focused secondary school? Our client, a vibrant school in the desirable borough of Wandsworth , is seeking an enthusiastic Music ECT to join their flourishing Arts faculty. This role offers exceptional mentorship within the Inner London pay zone.

The Vitals: What You'll Be Doing

This full-time role is structured to provide you with a solid foundation in music education, focusing on developing your skills in delivering engaging, practical, and theoretical music instruction across the secondary age range.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Delivery: Teach Music across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and GCSE (KS4) , introducing students to diverse musical styles, theory, composition, and practical performance skills.
  • ECT Induction: Fully participate in the school’s comprehensive ECT Induction Programme , benefiting from dedicated non-contact time, regular training, and constructive observation/feedback sessions with your mentor.
  • Co-Curricular Contribution: Actively assist in running and directing school ensembles, choirs, or bands, and support the organization of school concerts and performances.
  • Curriculum Engagement: Plan and deliver dynamic lessons that incorporate instrumental, vocal, and music technology elements, fostering a love for musical expression in all students.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Work closely with your assigned departmental mentor and the wider Arts team to share ideas and continually refine your pedagogy.

Candidate Profile: What We're Looking For

This position is ideal for a newly or recently qualified teacher with strong musical ability and a commitment to nurturing student talent.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualification: A degree in Music or a closely related Performing Arts discipline.
  • Certification: Hold, or be expecting to successfully complete, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) upon taking up the post.
  • Status: Must be eligible to begin or continue the Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction period.
  • Skills: High potential as a classroom practitioner, proficiency in a range of musical instruments/technology, and excellent communication skills.

  • Salary: Paid to the Main Pay Scale (MPS) M1-M3 (Inner London pay scale), commensurate with the ECT banding.
