Overview

At Gallagher Re, we have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an MI Portfolio Manager.

Our MI pillar portfolios include our FP&A, Client Advocacy, Carrier Management, Global Claims, Servicing and Operations teams who are responsible for both strategic and operational management information reporting needs of our business.

The Portfolio Manager oversees pillar portfolio reporting suites, ensuring alignment with the business stakeholders’ requirements and the MI governance framework and the wider Gallagher Re strategies.

The MI Portfolio Manager is responsible for pilar working group facilitation, manages risks and issues and escalations through the Steering Committee to ensure delivery remains on track. This role will have oversight of the end-to-end lifecycle, ensuring resources are effectively allocated, risks and issues are mitigated, and deliverables are well-defined assures robust execution of high-quality management information reporting.

A trusted partner to key stakeholders in each region, the MI Portfolio Manager is a key enabler in delivering reporting that supports business decision-making, performance improvement and problem-solving.

This role is based in our London City Headquarters however we offer flexible/hybrid working and you will be expected in the office twice a week.

How you'll make an impact

  1. Portfolio Management
  • Manage pillar portfolio reporting projects and initiatives within the MI governance framework.
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle, ensuring deliverables are defined, prioritised, and adequately resourced for development and testing.
  • Identify and record issues and risks, escalating to the Steering Committee as required.
  • Create detailed plans and roadmaps for pillar portfolio MI projects and initiatives.
  • Maintain related artefacts, such as risk and issue logs.
  1. MI Operations and Governance
  • Work with leadership to refine and implement the MI strategy specific to pillar portfolios.
  • Ensure adherence to data governance, MI governance, and external frameworks (e.g., InfoSec, regulatory compliance, technology policies).
  • Establish and enforce reporting standards to drive consistency, accuracy, and reliability of insights.
  1. Stakeholder Management & Engagement
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders as a trusted partner, understanding their business, challenges, and goals.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders on roadmap progress, risks, issues, and performance metrics.
  • Validate alignment of business needs and solutions with Gallagher Re and Gallagher strategies, escalating issues as necessary.
  1. Team Leadership
  • Directly manage technical business analysts and indirectly manage offshore development resources.
  • Foster cross-functional and matrix working, promoting collaboration through pillar working groups and related activities.
  • Support change management efforts related to MI governance, self-service reporting, and new ways of working.
  • Collaborate with Delivery Managers to ensure teams are adequately resourced and skilled.
  1. Data, Digital, and Technology Interfaces
  • Ensure appropriate MI tools are used and policies adhered to for MI reporting.
  • Stay informed about planned activities in Data, Digital, and Technology.
  • Collaborate with Digital teams on internal MI delivery mechanisms and design standards.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and updates to existing technologies.
About You

  • Relevant practical experience in MI/Data Analytics Management and previous practitioner experience in Insights/Report/Data Analyst type roles is essential.
  • Previous experience gained in the (Re)Insurance or London Insurance market would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing MI strategies.
  • Fantastic communication skills to manage complex stakeholder needs.
  • Experience managing and prioritising multiple data-related initiatives.
  • Ability to lead and develop insight and reporting practitioners (e.g., technical business analysts, data/insight analysts).
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams-working with offshore teams.
  • Skilled in anticipating and managing risks, issues, and challenges.
  • Ability to balance tactical and strategic solutions to ensure alignment with organisational strategy. Relevant practical experience in MI/data analytics management.
  • Agile experience is essential.
  • Experience with tools like Azure DevOps or similar.
  • Excellent understanding of reporting tools and practices (e.g., Power BI for data visualisation).
  • Understanding of data governance and regulatory compliance
