SEN Teaching Assistant - Redbridge

Marchant Recruitment
Ilford, Greater London

Location: Redbridge, London
Contract Type: Full-time

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Redbridge. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them to achieve their full potential within a supportive learning environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and wider support staff to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs. These may include autism spectrum conditions (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, or social and emotional challenges. Support may be delivered on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or within the classroom setting.

You will play a key role in helping pupils access the curriculum, develop independence, and build confidence in their learning. This includes adapting activities, using specialist strategies, and supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour. Creating a calm, structured, and nurturing environment will be central to your role.

Monitoring pupil progress and wellbeing will be an important part of your responsibilities. You will contribute to observations, record keeping, and reviews, ensuring accurate communication with teaching staff and the SEN team. Strong collaboration with parents and external professionals may also form part of the role.

This position is ideal for someone with prior SEN experience or a strong interest in special educational needs. The school is committed to inclusion and offers opportunities for training and professional development to support staff growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEN

  • Work one-to-one and with small groups

  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development

  • Implement strategies set out in EHCPs and support plans

  • Promote positive behaviour and inclusion

  • Assist with assessment and progress monitoring

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN (desirable)

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare

To be considered for this position, please forward an up-to-date CV as soon as possible.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
