Financial (SOX) Accountant

Vertex Associates are supporting a PE-Backed, Global business looking to hire a Financial Accountant to assist with SOX testing, remediation, and ongoing compliance of SOX controls.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a newly qualified financial accountant coming from a Big 4 or Top 6 firm who's ready to take their first step into industry.

The role offers far more than standard reporting role-because it focuses on the operations of the business, you'll gain exposure across finance, IT, and external auditors, giving you a holistic understanding of how the company runs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform SOX testing across key business controls
  • Identify control deficiencies, document findings, and support remediation
  • Re-test remediated controls and track progress
  • Support SOX compliance activities
  • Test controls within current systems and throughout an ERP rollout
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders on SOX requirements and best practices
  • Partner with internal audit, finance, IT, and external auditors

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Newly qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent), with IFRS experience
  • Proven experience in: SOX testing and External or internal audit
  • Background in a Big 4 / Top 6 firm strongly preferred
  • Hands-on business process and internal controls testing experience

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of SOX frameworks and internal controls
  • Excellent documentation, analytical, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple testing activities simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to educate stakeholders
  • Detail-driven with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
