Senior Developer Relations Engineer

Role Summary

We are looking for a Senior Developer Relations Engineer who can make technical tools a pleasure to build with. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who writes real code and then explains it well: you will build sample projects and reference integrations, own the documentation developers actually rely on, and turn what you learn from them into concrete feedback for the teams that own the tools.

You will sit between the engineers designing APIs and SDKs and the developers building against them, and you will be trusted to speak plainly in both directions. The role suits an engineer who is equally

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain sample applications, reference integrations, and client libraries that demonstrate how to use developer-facing tools well.

• Own developer documentation end to end - getting-started guides, API reference, tutorials, and troubleshooting - and hold a high bar for accuracy and clarity.Act as the first technical point of contact for developers using the tools: reproduce and diagnose integration problems, and see them through to resolution.

• Represent developer needs inside engineering by reviewing API and SDK design before release and pushing for changes where the developer experience falls short.

• Create technical content and deliver talks, workshops, and office hours that help developers become productive quickly.

• Build and maintain the supporting tooling for onboarding - test harnesses, diagnostics, and code samples kept verified automatically as part of the build pipeline.

• Track where developers get stuck and which questions recur, and use that evidence to prioritise fixes with the teams that own each surface.

• Raise the standard of technical writing and interface design across engineering, mentoring others on both.

Required Qualifications

• Substantial professional software engineering experience, with production code shipped in at least one mainstream language such as C#, C++, or Python.

• A track record in developer relations, developer experience, solutions engineering, or a comparable role where your users were other engineers.

• Demonstrated ability to design and build SDKs, APIs, or developer tooling, with clear and well-argued opinions about what makes them good.

• Excellent technical writing: you can take a complicated system and produce documentation an unfamiliar engineer can follow without help.

• Strong teaching and presentation skills, whether in a workshop, a conference talk, or a one-to-one debugging session.

• Comfort working across teams and influencing engineering decisions on codebases you do not own.

• A service-minded approach to support work, and the judgement to recognise when a recurring question is really a product problem.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal, or with other real-time interactive runtimes.

• Experience building and running documentation sites, including automated verification of code samples.

• Experience supporting developers working on large-scale consumer products.

• Familiarity with mobile platform development and its release and certification constraints.

• Experience running a developer community at scale - forums, issue trackers, office hours.

• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows and the tooling that supports them.

• Open-source contributions, technical writing, or conference programme involvement.
