Assistant Legal Counsel in City of London
Job description
New Assistant Legal Counsel opportunity working with a top performing specialty insurer operating within the Lloyd’s Market. Reporting to the International General Counsel, you will support in providing advice and support on all legal matters affecting the international’s operations, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations across the relevant jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice across underwriting, claims, compliance, commercial, and corporate governance.
- Identify and manage legal risks; support risk mitigation strategies.
- Draft, review, and advise on insurance contracts, corporate transactions, and commercial agreements.
- Ensure compliance with laws/regulations (incl. Lloyd’s market, sanctions, financial crime).
- Advise on policy wordings, endorsements, and product development.
- Support governance, company secretarial, and compliance functions.
- Deliver legal/compliance training to staff.
Skills and Experience:
- UK qualified lawyer, desirable mix of private practice and in-house.
- Experience in insurance law and regulation, and desirable Lloyd’s/London insurance market.
- Experience and knowledge of PRA/FCA and Lloyd’s regulatory regimes.
