Overview

Jefferies is seeking a talented and driven Associate / Vice President to join our London-based Investment Banking Power, Utilities & Infrastructure (PUI) team. This group is a core franchise within Jefferies’ global investment banking platform, advising leading corporates, financial sponsors, and institutional investors on strategic transactions across the energy transition, utilities, and infrastructure sectors.

As part of a dynamic and growing team, you will gain direct exposure to complex cross-border M&A, capital markets and financing transactions, working closely with senior bankers and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transaction Execution: Lead day-to-day execution of M&A, debt, and equity mandates in the PUI space, including valuation, financial modelling, due diligence, and process management.

  • Sector Expertise: Build and maintain in-depth knowledge of the power, utilities, renewables, and infrastructure sectors, including key trends (e.g., energy transition, decarbonisation, digital infrastructure).
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop Analysts and interns, ensuring high-quality output and professional growth.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside product teams (ECM, DCM, LevFin) and other sector groups to deliver integrated solutions to clients.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 4–7 years of experience in investment banking, preferably within PUI, broader Energy, Infrastructure, or adjacent coverage groups.
  • Proven track record in executing M&A transactions; capital markets experience advantageous.
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce client-ready materials.
  • Commercial acumen and a deep interest in the PUI sector and global energy transition themes.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise effectively, and thrive under pressure.
  • Strong team player with leadership potential and commitment to developing junior talent.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required; advanced degree or professional qualification (e.g., CFA, ACA) beneficial but not essential.
