Job Description: Technical Delivery Manager

Location:  London, UK
Work Model: Full-time, onsite at customer location
Role Type:  Customer-facing delivery leadership role

Role Summary

We are looking for a Technical Delivery Manager to lead complex technology delivery for a strategic enterprise customer in London. This role requires a strong combination of hands-on technical understanding, delivery ownership, client management, Agile execution, and cross-functional leadership.

The ideal candidate will manage end-to-end delivery across cloud, data, application modernization, AI-enabled engineering, and enterprise integration initiatives. The role is fully customer-facing and requires daily onsite collaboration with business, technology, product, architecture, and engineering stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Leadership

  • Own end-to-end delivery across assigned programs, workstreams, releases, and sprint commitments.

  • Drive planning, execution, risk management, dependency tracking, and stakeholder communication.

  • Ensure delivery predictability across scope, schedule, quality, budget, and customer expectations.

  • Manage delivery governance using Agile methodology, sprint ceremonies, release planning, retrospectives, and operational reporting.

  • Maintain clear traceability of requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, UAT sign-offs, defects, and production readiness.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary onsite delivery interface for customer stakeholders.

  • Build trusted relationships with business, product, technology, architecture, security, infrastructure, and operations teams.

  • Translate business priorities into actionable delivery plans and technical execution roadmaps.

  • Proactively communicate risks, blockers, trade-offs, and mitigation plans.

  • Support executive-level reporting, steering committee updates, and escalation management.

  • Identify growth opportunities and partner with internal team to build solution proposals

Technical Oversight

  • Provide technical leadership across cloud, data, application, integration, and DevOps workstreams.

  • Work closely with architects, engineers, QA, DevOps, and data teams to validate technical design and delivery feasibility.

  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, privacy, data residency, and operational standards.

  • Review technical dependencies across applications, data pipelines, APIs, environments, and CI/CD processes.

  • Drive production-readiness reviews, performance validation, monitoring, and support handover.

Engineering & Agile Execution

  • Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Manage delivery through tools such as JIRA and/or Azure DevOps.

  • Ensure stories are well-defined, estimated, prioritized, and linked to business outcomes.

  • Track velocity, capacity, defects, risks, dependencies, and release burn-down.

  • Promote disciplined engineering practices, including code quality, peer review, automation, testing, and deployment controls.

Data, Cloud & DevOps Delivery

  • Manage delivery across modern data platforms and cloud-native environments.

  • Coordinate data engineering, transformation, ingestion, analytics, and reporting workstreams.

  • Oversee CI/CD pipeline execution, environment readiness, deployment planning, and release validation.

  • Support operational readiness through monitoring, observability, incident response, and continuous improvement.

Required Technical Experience

Strong working knowledge across modern enterprise technology delivery, including:

  • Cloud & Platform: Microsoft Azure, AKS, Azure Container Apps, Azure Monitor, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Azure Data Lake, Fabric / OneLake.

  • Data & Analytics: Databricks, Unity Catalog, Azure Data Factory, PySpark, Python, SQL, Power BI, data pipelines, transformations, reconciliation, and data quality.

  • Application & Integration: .NET / .NET Core, Angular, REST APIs, microservices, authentication, authorization, and secure enterprise integration.

  • DevOps & Delivery Tools: JIRA, Azure DevOps, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, release management, environment management, automated testing, and deployment governance.

  • AI-Enabled Engineering: Exposure to GitHub Copilot, Claude, Codex, Lovable, or similar AI tools supporting SDLC acceleration, code generation, testing, and productivity improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in technology delivery, software engineering, data platforms, or cloud transformation.

  • 5+ years in a delivery management, technical program management, or technical project leadership role.

  • Strong experience managing enterprise customers in an onsite, high-touch delivery model.

  • Proven ability to lead distributed engineering teams across onsite, nearshore, and offshore locations.

  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery, sprint execution, release governance, and production deployment practices.

  • Ability to challenge teams constructively on estimates, technical approach, quality, and delivery risks.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical teams and senior customer stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with ability to manage ambiguity, dependencies, and escalations.

  • Experience in regulated, enterprise, audit, financial services, or professional services environments is preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with large global enterprise customers.

  • Prior exposure to audit, risk, compliance, financial services, or professional services platforms.

  • Experience managing cloud data platform programs using Azure, Databricks, Fabric, and Power BI.

  • Experience with modernization programs involving .NET, Angular, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native deployment.

  • Familiarity with operational support, production readiness, observability, performance testing, and incident management.

  • Experience driving value-based delivery, productivity improvement, and AI-enabled engineering adoption.

Key Success Measures

  • Predictable sprint and release delivery.

  • Strong customer confidence and stakeholder satisfaction.

  • Clear governance across scope, backlog, UAT, defects, and release readiness.

  • Improved delivery quality, reduced rework, and stronger production stability.

  • Effective coordination across business, product, engineering, QA, DevOps, and operations teams.

  • Proactive risk management and transparent executive communication.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a  hands-on technical delivery leader  who can operate comfortably with senior customer stakeholders while also engaging deeply with engineering teams. They should be able to manage delivery pressure, bring structure to ambiguity, challenge teams constructively, and ensure that commitments are met with quality and transparency.

This is not a purely project management role. It requires someone who understands technology delivery in depth and can lead from the front in a complex, customer-facing enterprise environment.
