As Director, Adult Social Care, you will report directly into the Corporate Director and provide strategic leadership across a complex, high‑profile portfolio supporting some of the most vulnerable adults. You will lead large multidisciplinary teams, oversee significant budgets and drive strengths‑based practice at scale, ensuring statutory duties are met while accelerating improvement, inclusion and outcomes.
This role is about visible leadership, pace and purpose. You will shape culture, set direction and ensure services are person‑centred, preventative and enabling, with a relentless focus on tackling inequality, embedding anti‑racist practice and delivering joined‑up support across organisational boundaries. If you thrive in senior environments where influence, collaboration and accountability matter, this role offers real scope to make a lasting difference.
Your role as Director, Adult Social Care:
- Strategic leadership of strengths‑based practice, personalisation and prevention across all adult services
- Driving integration and partnership working with health, voluntary sector and wider system partners
- Ownership of performance, quality and safeguarding, ensuring statutory compliance and continuous improvement
- Visible leadership on equality, inclusion and anti‑racist practice, shaping culture and behaviours
- Accountability for budgets, resources and value for money, delivering sustainable services at scale
Your experience as Director, Adult Social Care:
- Senior leadership experience within adult social care at a strategic and operational level
- Strong track record of service transformation, improvement and performance delivery
- Deep understanding of the Care Act, safeguarding and strengths‑based approaches
- Proven ability to lead complex partnerships, commissioning and integrated delivery
- Credibility with elected members, senior stakeholders and system leaders
In return, the Director, Adult Social Care role offers the chance to operate at the heart of organisational leadership, influence borough‑wide priorities and leave a tangible legacy for residents and communities. This is a demanding but highly rewarding assignment, suited to a confident, values‑led leader who can balance pace with compassion.
