The Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support the learning and development of children in reception and nursery classes
Assist in delivering structured and play-based learning activities
Support children with additional needs to ensure an inclusive classroom
Observe, record, and report children’s progress to the class teacher
Encourage confidence, independence, and social skills in young learners
Prepare classroom resources and assist in day-to-day routines
You will also help facilitate outdoor learning, creative play, and school trips, contributing to a safe and stimulating learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting children in whole-class, small-group, and one-to-one settings
Delivering play-based learning experiences under teacher guidance
Supporting children’s social, emotional, and behavioural development
Assisting with classroom management and maintaining routines
Preparing learning materials and classroom resources
Monitoring and documenting children’s development and progress
Supporting children with SEN, EAL, or other additional needs
Participating in team meetings, training sessions, and school initiatives
Assisting with school events, extracurricular activities, and trips
The Ideal Candidate
The school is seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience working with children aged 3–5 in a nursery or reception setting
Understands child development and early years pedagogy
Is nurturing, patient, and empathetic
Demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork skills
Can effectively support children with SEN or EAL
Brings creativity and enthusiasm to play-based learning
Is adaptable and flexible in a dynamic classroom environment
Builds positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
Has a genuine passion for early years education
