The Role

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support the learning and development of children in reception and nursery classes

  • Assist in delivering structured and play-based learning activities

  • Support children with additional needs to ensure an inclusive classroom

  • Observe, record, and report children’s progress to the class teacher

  • Encourage confidence, independence, and social skills in young learners

  • Prepare classroom resources and assist in day-to-day routines

You will also help facilitate outdoor learning, creative play, and school trips, contributing to a safe and stimulating learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting children in whole-class, small-group, and one-to-one settings

  • Delivering play-based learning experiences under teacher guidance

  • Supporting children’s social, emotional, and behavioural development

  • Assisting with classroom management and maintaining routines

  • Preparing learning materials and classroom resources

  • Monitoring and documenting children’s development and progress

  • Supporting children with SEN, EAL, or other additional needs

  • Participating in team meetings, training sessions, and school initiatives

  • Assisting with school events, extracurricular activities, and trips

The Ideal Candidate

The school is seeking an EYFS Teaching Assistant who:

  • Has experience working with children aged 3–5 in a nursery or reception setting

  • Understands child development and early years pedagogy

  • Is nurturing, patient, and empathetic

  • Demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Can effectively support children with SEN or EAL

  • Brings creativity and enthusiasm to play-based learning

  • Is adaptable and flexible in a dynamic classroom environment
