Site Assistant - Surbiton

We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and practical Site Assistant to join a busy primary school in Surbiton , starting ASAP . This role is essential for maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organised school environment, supporting both pupils and staff in their day-to-day activities.

The school has a strong community ethos and places high value on teamwork, efficiency, and safety. As a Site Assistant, you will help ensure the school site is secure, functional, and welcoming, allowing teaching and learning to take place without interruption.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the school premises, including classrooms, corridors, outdoor areas, and communal spaces

• Carry out routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs

• Ensure the school site is secure, including locking and unlocking buildings and monitoring access

• Assist with setting up rooms and equipment for events, assemblies, and activities

• Monitor building and equipment conditions, reporting issues as necessary

• Oversee waste disposal, cleaning supplies, and stock levels

• Support health and safety compliance, including fire drills and emergency procedures

• Assist with deliveries, movement of resources, and site organisation

• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff, pupils, and visitors

• Work collaboratively with school staff and external contractors

• Have previous experience in site maintenance, caretaking, or a similar facilities role

• Be practical, hands-on, and proactive

• Have good organisational skills and attention to detail
