Daily rate: £108.35 per day Are you a Psychology graduate, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or experienced support worker looking to build your career working with children and young people with additional needs? An independent SEN school in Kingston upon Thames is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join its specialist team. Both full-time and part-time applicants will be considered. The school supports pupils with a range of autism, speech and language needs, communication difficulties and additional learning needs, providing a highly individualised and supportive learning environment. The Role As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to help pupils access learning, develop communication skills and build confidence and independence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
- Supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and speech, language and communication needs.
- Helping pupils develop communication, social and emotional skills.
- Supporting pupils to engage with lessons and differentiated learning activities.
- Implementing strategies recommended by Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals.
- Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils regulate and manage emotions.
- Developing positive, trusting relationships with pupils and acting as a consistent source of support.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and participation in school life.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, therapists and families.
- Following individual support plans and contributing to pupils' wider development.
