What is Research Integrity – and why does it matter?At Frontiers, our Research Integrity team plays a critical role in ensuring that the science we publish is trustworthy, ethical, and rigorously vetted. As a Research Integrity Specialist, you will be at the forefront of investigating complex cases, identifying patterns, and helping shape the future of ethical publishing.
Requirements
We are seeking a Research Integrity Specialist to join our team and
- Includes level of autonomy on problem solving, level of input on strategy, OKR involvement, use of/input on resources (e.g. playbooks, handbooks)
- Conduct submission checks to ensure adherence to publication ethics and detect any potential misconduct. Confirm that all manuscripts, authors, and institutions pass Frontiers’ initial quality checks before entering peer review.
- Collaborate with authors, editors, and institutions so that any pending issue is resolved before production, ensuring a timely and customer-focused approach.
- Address post-publication concerns and investigations into reported ethical issues and research misconduct and liaise with relevant teams as necessary.
- Gather and document evidence related to each ethical breaches investigated.
- Apply and uphold research integrity policies, develop training materials, train new team members, and provide input on ethical guidelines for all stakeholders.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in the field of research integrity and publication ethics. Recommend and support policy and system improvements to maintain high ethical standards.
- Provide regular updates and report to the Research Integrity Manager
Nature of Impact (expected outcomes, how do you measure results/success)
- Responsible for upholding integrity and quality standards on Frontiers publications
- Effective resolution of ethical issues and post-publication investigations
- Success is measured through adherence to ethical guidelines, quality of manuscripts, performance against objectives
