Consultant in Audiovestibular Medicine
Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant in Audiovestibular Medicine to join our interdisciplinary Paediatric Audiology team, working across Hackney Ark, Wood Street Health Centre, Loxford Polyclinic and West Ham Lane Health Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape care for children with hearing and balance disorders across east London, with scope to get involved in developing our first Specialist Paediatric Vestibular service and supporting the Adult Vestibular service. You'll work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, with opportunities for teaching, research and service development, in a Trust that serves 2.5 million people across east London.We're looking for someone with:
- Full UK GMC registration, on the Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT) in Audiovestibular Medicine
- Strong clinical knowledge of paediatric hearing and balance disorders
- A commitment to teaching, quality improvement and multidisciplinary working
GENERAL DUTIES OF THE POST
- To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and high quality evidence-based Paediatric Audiology service, with continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.
- Leadership, development and organisation of the services in his/her charge in line with Trust / Divisional business plans. Full participation in the management of the Paediatric Audiology service and will be required to work within the financial and other constraints decided upon the Trust. Liaison and communication with the General Manager, Audiology Manager and Clinical Director.
- All consultants represent the department on various committees within the trust as well as taking responsibility for particular delegated areas according to their interests and availability. The Clinical Director is responsible for delegating these responsibilities.

- MB BS [or equivalent] MRCP or MRCS(ENT) or FRCS (ENT) or MRCPCH
- NB: Non UK trained doctors must be on the GMC register and Specialist Register in relevant specialty by date of interview
- Full UK GMC Registration
- On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of attainment of CCT in Audiovestibular Medicine at date of interview
- MSc in Audiovestibular Medicine
- PhD or MD or equivalent specialist training

- Experience in managing paediatric patients with hearing and balance disorders
- Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of audio-vestibular disorders
- Knowledge of evidence informed practice
- Detailed knowledge and experience in area of Genetics of Hearing loss
