Premises Officer - Hillingdon
We are seeking a reliable, organised, and proactive Premises Officer to join a busy primary school in Hillingdon, starting ASAP. This is a key role for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-functioning school environment for staff, pupils, and visitors.
The school has a strong community ethos and values teamwork, efficiency, and attention to detail. As Premises Officer, you will be responsible for the smooth operation and upkeep of the school buildings and grounds, ensuring they are safe, clean, and fully operational at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and security of the school premises
Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks
Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, plumbing, and other building systems
Ensure the school site is safe and secure, including opening and locking buildings
Organise and supervise contractor work as required
Assist with the setup and breakdown of school events and activities
Monitor and maintain school equipment and supplies
Respond promptly to maintenance and safety issues
Support health and safety compliance, including risk assessments and inspections
Work collaboratively with school staff to maintain a positive, safe environment
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Have previous experience in a premises, facilities, or caretaker role
Be practical, reliable, and proactive
Have skills in basic maintenance, DIY, and building management
Be organised and able to manage multiple priorities efficiently
Be committed to health and safety standards
Have strong communication skills and work well as part of a team
