Principal Environmental Health officer
Contract Type: Temp to Perm
Hourly Rate: £27.45 PAYE or £36.35 UMB negotiable
Working Pattern: Full Time
Driving Required: Yes Role Purpose:
As a Principal Environmental Health Officer, your primary goal will be to uplift standards within Croydon's private rented sector, protecting the health, safety, and welfare of residents. You will play a key role in enhancing the renting experience for private renters while ensuring landlords and property agents meet legal obligations. Key Responsibilities: Manage a team of up to 6 FTE, including Environmental Health Officers and Housing Enforcement Officers.
Lead complex enforcement activities, including legal proceedings and property licencing.
Provide expert advice and support on Environmental Health and Housing legislation.
Conduct inspections and take statutory actions to ensure compliance with property standards.
Develop and implement relevant policies and procedures while keeping up-to-date with statutory guidance.
Participate in departmental initiatives and assist in data collection, report writing, and responding to inquiries.
Support the Head of Housing Needs and Homelessness as required. Who You Are:
