About the Role – Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant
As a Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant , you'll work closely with subject teachers and the wider support team to improve student understanding and engagement in STEM subjects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing targeted academic support in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Engineering-based subjects.
- Delivering small-group and one-to-one intervention sessions to help students close learning gaps or stretch their abilities.
- Assisting in lesson planning and delivery, with the opportunity to lead portions of lessons over time.
- Offering mentoring and study skills support, especially in the run-up to GCSE and A-Level exams.
- Gaining practical classroom experience while exploring different teaching approaches and learning environments.
Who Should Apply? – Graduate STEM Teaching Assistant Profile
We’re looking for enthusiastic, committed individuals who can make a real difference in the classroom:
- A 2:1 or higher in a STEM-related subject (e.g., Maths, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science).
- Strong subject knowledge and confidence in supporting learners at both KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and supportive attitude, with the ability to adapt to the needs of different learners.
- Prior experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, youth programmes) is beneficial but not essential.
