This position is aligned to one of our four divisions:

  • Lucid Global works with global brand teams at big and mid-tier pharmaceuticals and biotech clients to deliver powerful medical communications solutions across the asset lifecycle.

Our other divisions include:

  • Lucid Consulting brings depth of expertise in the research, development and commercialisation of solutions across therapeutic areas and modalities by streamlining product development, building operational capabilities, innovating, and supporting execution to create value for patients, clients and shareholders.

  • US MedComms works with both US and Global brand teams to create powerful medical communications solutions for early lifecycle assets.

  • US Marketing works with clients across the Rx, Medical Device, OTC and Consumer Device categories to deliver compelling communications and promotional solutions to Healthcare Professionals for in-market assets.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Account Director (SAD) is a senior strategic leader who takes full ownership of client partnerships, account growth, and team performance. They translate client strategy into an actionable, future-focused account plan; guide their teams to deliver excellence; and act as a trusted advisor capable of shaping strategic conversations and influencing high-stakes decisions.

The SAD demonstrates strong commercial judgment, anticipate client and market needs, and drives both revenue growth and operational excellence. They model Lucid’s values and leadership behaviours, fostering an inclusive, accountable, and high-performing environment where people can grow.

A Senior Account Director at Lucid is responsible for:

Client partnership

  • Serve as the senior strategic partner and trusted advisor, building long-term, resilient client relationships grounded in insight, alignment, and proactive support

  • Communicate a compelling vision for accounts, ensuring clients feel confident in your recommendations and Lucid’s ability to deliver

  • Anticipate client, market, and organisational shifts, adapting strategies to stay ahead and create long-term value

  • Influence client stakeholders with clarity and conviction, providing counsel on complex decision-making and risk-aware choices

Delivery excellence

  • Lead multiple programmes and workstreams, ensuring high-quality, strategically aligned outputs delivered on time and on budget

  • Collaborate with the project management function to establish optimal ways of working to reduce friction, improve efficiency, and elevate client experience

  • Facilitate project reviews to recognise excellence and identify growth opportunities for future work

  • Apply root-cause thinking to assess issues, resolve them quickly, and implement preventive improvements

Strategic leadership

  • Translate brand and portfolio strategy into insight-driven account plans that guide team focus and client impact

  • Shape narratives and programme designs grounded in scientific, behavioural, and commercial understanding

  • Champion continuous innovation, leading the development of forward-thinking solutions, content, and engagement approaches

  • Use data literacy to guide strategic recommendations, helping clients draw meaningful insights from evidence

New business & growth

  • Drive organic growth by identifying opportunities, expanding partnerships, and strategically positioning Lucid capabilities

  • Lead pitch development and delivery, mobilising cross-functional teams to produce compelling, insight-led proposals

  • Build strong networks within and beyond the client organisation to influence decisions and secure new opportunities

Financial leadership

  • Lead the financial management of accounts, ensuring accuracy of forecasting, strong margin performance, and robust revenue delivery

  • Apply sound commercial decision-making to balance risk for both the client and Lucid

  • Drive accountability across teams to ensure financial targets are met and value is delivered

Team leadership & people development

  • Lead a cross-functional team to drive excellence and best-practice ways of working

  • Mentor and coach team members, creating conditions for autonomy, accountability, and professional growth

  • Role-model behaviours that foster equity, inclusion, psychological safety, and active listening

  • Provide constructive feedback that builds confidence, capability, and performance

  • Set standards for excellence and align teams around strategic objectives, clear priorities, and effective time management

  • Lead through change with empathy, resilience, and transparency

  • Being an ambassador of excellence in client service 

  • Setting standards for the team 

  • Ensuring that we exceed all clients’ expectations  

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Essential skills:

  • Experience within the medcomms/healthcare industry

  • Extensive experience within an account management, partnership focused role

  • Experience in delivering presentations

  • Experienced in coaching, mentoring or managing others

  • Experience driving and leading teams

  • Experience working in a fast paced environment

  • Experience in creating innovative strategic programs for clients and big picture thinking

  • Experience in building and maintaining strong client partnerships

  • Experience problem solving and providing solutions

Desirable skills:

  • Demonstrable experience delivering excellent projects for clients, on time and on budget

  • Leading client pitches

  • Life Science degree

  • Experience within the medcomms/healthcare industry
