We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated Reception Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Sidcup, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Early Years specialist who is passionate about providing a nurturing, stimulating, and engaging start to children’s education.

The school has a strong community feel and places great emphasis on child-centred learning, wellbeing, and early development. Staff work collaboratively to create an environment where children feel safe, confident, and excited to learn. Senior leadership is supportive and committed to staff development, offering ongoing training and guidance.

As a Reception Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality EYFS provision that supports children’s academic, social, emotional, and physical development. You will create engaging learning opportunities that encourage curiosity, independence, and positive learning behaviours. Working closely with teaching assistants, parents, and colleagues, you will ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.

  • Promote early literacy, numeracy, phonics, and communication skills

  • Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development

  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment

  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all children, including SEND and EAL

  • Observe, assess, and record children’s progress accurately

  • Foster independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and EYFS colleagues

  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers, providing regular feedback

  • Contribute to staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives

  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching in EYFS, ideally Reception

  • Be nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic

  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisation

  • Have a secure understanding of the EYFS framework

  • Be reflective, adaptable, and proactive

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and child wellbeing

The school is located in Sidcup, with good transport links and a supportive local community. Staff benefit from a professional, well-resourced, and inclusive working environment where wellbeing and development are prioritised.
