Reception Teacher - Sidcup
We are seeking a warm, enthusiastic, and dedicated Reception Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Sidcup, starting as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Early Years specialist who is passionate about providing a nurturing, stimulating, and engaging start to children’s education.
The school has a strong community feel and places great emphasis on child-centred learning, wellbeing, and early development. Staff work collaboratively to create an environment where children feel safe, confident, and excited to learn. Senior leadership is supportive and committed to staff development, offering ongoing training and guidance.
As a Reception Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality EYFS provision that supports children’s academic, social, emotional, and physical development. You will create engaging learning opportunities that encourage curiosity, independence, and positive learning behaviours. Working closely with teaching assistants, parents, and colleagues, you will ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality EYFS lessons and continuous provision
Promote early literacy, numeracy, phonics, and communication skills
Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development
Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all children, including SEND and EAL
Observe, assess, and record children’s progress accurately
Foster independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and EYFS colleagues
Build strong relationships with parents and carers, providing regular feedback
Contribute to staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives
Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Have experience teaching in EYFS, ideally Reception
Be nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic
Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisation
Have a secure understanding of the EYFS framework
Be reflective, adaptable, and proactive
Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and child wellbeing
