The Opportunity:

The opportunity is within Clarion Retail, home of five prestigious market-leading trade events in the UK; Top Drawer Spring, Top Drawer Autumn, Home & Gift, January Furniture Show, Manchester Furniture Show, plus Retail Reveal, the online digital platform for the Retail industry. Clarion Retail is a fast-paced, exciting environment to work in with team members who are passionate about delivering engaging, productive and inspiring events.

The candidate will be joining the business at the start of the Top Drawer Autumn marketing campaign (13-15 September) and will play a lead role in delivering this B2B campaign – on time and within budget. They will lead the implementation of the marketing strategy, manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships and work closely with the marketing executive to deliver a multi-channel campaign to the highest standards on time and within budget.

Top Drawer is a design-led retail sourcing event, running for 40+ years – bringing together a curated edit of contemporary products, from the UK and beyond. Attracting independent, online and large retailers, the Top Drawer team understand the pressure to find a fresh, contemporary edit of products that truly resonates, so we do the legwork —unearthing and vetting the most exciting and innovative brands and products to ensure they’re truly retail-ready. By bringing everyone together in London, we create a space where retailers can feel the quality of products, meet the makers and build the relationships that sustain businesses.

We are looking for a competent, data-driven marketer with strong experience delivering integrated campaigns, ideally within events or similar environments. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, brand focused, analytically curious and collaborative, with a customer centric approach ready to take on the responsibilities of Marketing Manager . The candidate will provide leadership, support and development to the marketing executive and will report directly to the Brand Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with finalising the Top Drawer marketing strategy, with clear campaign objectives, KPIs, budgets and timelines leveraging data and insight.

  • Responsible for the insight-led planning, execution and optimisation of the multi-channel campaign for Top Drawer Autumn ensuring consistent brand positioning, messaging and measurement delivered on time and within budget.

  • In conjunction with Marketing Operations launch Live Buzz Top Drawer and manage the campaign and process end-to-end – ensuring thorough testing and on time delivery

  • Build relationships and drive activities for marketing through exhibitor campaigns – via bell weather brands and the wider database

  • Manage and deliver strong data driven EDM campaigns via Pardot – focusing on segmentation, messaging, results and continual optimisation

  • Deliver the DM campaign – from creative with the internal design team, cost management to fulfilment

  • Develop, negotiate and ensure the delivery of marketing and media partnerships

  • Lead and deliver innovative sales promotion campaigns to support the sales team and deliver MQLs

  • Lead relationships with internal stakeholders, senior management, sponsors, and key partners to align marketing priorities and maximise impact.

  • Manage and optimise agency and supplier relationships to ensure high-quality delivery, innovation, and value for money – this will include Digital Media Agency, design agency and show guide company

  • Line-manage, coach, and develop marketing executive, driving high performance, on time/ within budget and professional growth.

  • Ensure consistent use of systems and processes enabling maximum effectiveness and efficiency from self and team when executing activities and reporting.

  • Provide Management with on-going and post campaign effectiveness reports and recommend on-going improvements

  • Remain up-to-date with the latest communications tools and continuously assess their deployment to improve marketing effectiveness

  • Promote a culture of testing and change to continuously drive improvement

  • Manage and monitor marketing budgets, provide accurate forecasts and feed into the budget setting process

  • Work with the Marketing Operations team to drive an insight and data-led approach to campaign development focusing on strategic targeting alongside performance analysis to monitor and optimise channel effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours:

  • A proven track record of owning the marketing strategy and managing the execution and delivery of successful customer-facing multi-channel event campaigns

  • Proven use and understanding of databases and segmentation techniques

  • Excellent campaign management, planning and organisational skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, alongside financial management, negotiation and budgeting skills

  • Technical familiarity with Microsoft Office, Pardot (or similar), website build (ASP), Canva, PowerBI and GA4

  • Proactive, calm approach, with strong leadership skills

  • Commercial awareness with a focus on hitting registration targets and maintaining audience quality

  • Data-driven and curious mindset, able to interpret metrics and measure effectiveness, make recommendations and act on data-led insight.

  • Creatively confident – from briefings to brand creation, management and messaging

  • Customer-first mind-set
